Notes
a. Note:   She may be from Unter Thalheim (Corrected spelling of Untertalheim) in Wurtemberg per her children's baptismals. ***********************************************************
Per family stories her name was Magdalena Kling, but all records point to it being Magdalena Klink.
 ***********************************************************
Pauline Muller's death certificate lists her name as Mary Weinbach
 ***********************************************************
Per Uncle George Duane Smith, Lena Fasnacht or Fausnot was the only child of William Theodore Fasnacht or Fausnot and his wife Lena Kling. He came as a Mercenary for the Civil War and stayed afterwards. He is said to have come over at age 60. This is incorrect though as he was here, and married with children on the 1880 census and was listed as age 57. All of the other children died before Lena Smith.

 Uncle Duane:
I hope all is well with you and that you had a wonderful Christmas! We just got back from Mom and Dad's a few hours ago. It was a pleasant Christmas for us! I started to work on the Fosnot (various spellings) branch, and had some questions. You once told me that the Hassler family was somehow tied up in the Fosnot family. I think you said that Grandma Lena's mother married a Hassler and had children with him. (Based on my memory of our conversation.) I have not been able to find any proof of this, but I did just recently find a census entry that links the Fosnots and the Hessler family in North Versailles, Allegheny Co. , PA. I am hoping you might be able to help me make some sense of it. I found an Elizabeth Hessler, married to a Christian Hessler who lists her three children as being named: Nora M. Fosnot (Fausnot) William F. Fausnot Mamie J. Fausnot. In later records I find a note that she was married twice. Her husband Christian was only married once. So, likely the children are hers from her first marriage to a Fausnot. I think this guy may have been a brother of Grandma Lena by the name of William Fausnot. Grandma Lena had 3 siblings. 2 sisters, Pauline Miller (married to Mathias or Matthew Miller) and a Mary A. Fausnot (I have not found a marriage for Mary yet.). She also had one brother William Fausnot. I have never found a marriage for him, but he disappears from census records around the time this other group shows up. I think he may have died. Can you look over everything from above and let me know your thoughts/memories? Thanks! Jarrod

 Good evening Jarrod,
About Grandma Lena's family, I do not know much. I do remember several of the photo albums that were in the glass bookcase. One of them had Fausnot written by hand inside the cover. I never talked to her much about her father except he came from Germany after serving several tours of duty for other people. He married late in life and Grandma Lena always said she was the only child born from him. Her mother married a Hessler or Hassler but we were never in touch with any of the family. Sorry, I would like to know more myself. Hope you find something that connects the missing links!
 Uncle Duane
