a. Note:   r brother-in-la w, David Van Kirk (1845-1914), had 3 children out of wedlock: Cornelius , Charles, & Elizabeth per Freda Belle Jeffries. She is listed with s on Charles on the 1930 Census as Barbara Sullivan. Barbara was a midwi fe. Barbara had some knick knacks and pots and pans taken, and she thre atened to come back after death and throw fireballs at the thief. Appa rently fireballs hit the house when a storm hit the house many years la ter. Barbara was a mean woman per Elizabeth Reagle. Elizabeth heard s tories from her grandmother.

Note:   Barbara was a housekeeper for her sister Nancy Jane and Nancy Jane's h usband David in the 1870 census. This lends credence to the supposed f act that her first 3 children are of David. Barbara & he
