Note: Newspaper Articles (1952-53): John W. Denny of Casper has been named superintendent of drilling and production for Crusader Corporation and Morton Oil Company. He was a district superintendent for Continental Oil company in Wyoming for twenty-one years. 17th Street---by Robert Murray James R. Macon of Denver has been elected president of Crusader corporation and will continue as general manager. Other directors elected by stockholders at their annual meeting included Dwight H. Elder of Denver, vice presendent; H. C. Bartholomew of Denver, secretary-treasurer; Frank L. Burbridge of Omaha and John W. Denny of Casper, Wyo. D. H. Barnett of Ogallala, Neb., formerly president, and G. W. Black of Denver, have retired as directors. Denny is in charge of all oil field work and producation in Wyoming for Crusader and Morton Oil company, a Crusader subsidiary. Field Shocked and Grieved By Death of John Denny, Sr. Word of John Denny, Sr.'s death Monday shocked and grieved this community. The Denny family had lived in Lance Creek a good many years and three of the children, John, Bill, and Eleanore Ann, were educated in the local schools. Mr. Denny came to Lance Creek in 1935 from Ft. Collins, as a driller for Continental Oil company. A few years later he was made drilling foreman. About 1942 he became field superintendent for the Lance Creek field. Mr. and Mrs. Denny moved to Casper in 1950 when he was promoted to drilling superintendent of the Rocky Mountain district of Continental. They bought a home in Casper and were living there at the time of Mr. Denny's retirement July 1, 1952. After his retirement, he became district superintendent with the Crusader Oil company for whom Mr. Denny was taking care of business when he was stricken and died in Lusk. The Denny family's many friends in this community extend sincere sympathy to the deceased's family. John W. Denny The rosary will be recited for John W. Denny, 65, pioneer Wyoming oil man, at 8 p.m. Friday at the Olinger mortuary at Speer boulevard and Sherman street. Mass will be sung at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes church, 2256 South Logan Street. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Mr. Denny made his home in Casper, Wyo., and died unexpectedly Monday morning at Lusk, Wyo. He was born July 7, 1887, at Little Washington, Pa. He married Ella Jane Holstein Sept. 25, 1914 at Charleston, W.Va. The Dennys came west to Wyoming in 1916. Mr. Denny and his brothers, the late Anthony J. and Charles Denny were affiliated with the Ohio Oil company for twenty-one years. For the past fifteen years Mr. John Denny had been district superintendent for the Rocky Mountain region. During the past four months he was production mangaer for the Crusader corporation. Mr. Denny is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Katherine Fuller, Mrs. Frances Hansgen and Mrs. Mary Agnes Adams of Denver; Mrs. Eleanore Blagg of Casper and Mrs. Helen Rackets of Sumatra; two sons, Anthony J. Denny of Lance Creek, Wyo., and William E. Denny of Newcastle, Wyo.; a sister, Mrs. Agnes E. Garbarino of Denver and fourteen grandchildren. John W. Denny of Lance Creek, Wyo., and William E. Denny of New Castle, Wyo.; a sister, Mrs. Agnes E. Garbarino, Denver; and 14 grandchildern. Interment was in Mt. Olivet.
