  Charles H. PETERS died at his home 287 Union St. at 11 o'clock last eve. C.H. Peters was born at Hampstead (Queens Co.) in 1823. His father's name was Carleton PETERS. In 1845 he married a Miss Slipp d/o Geo. SLIPP of Hampstead. He came to St. John about 38 years ago and opened a tannery on Union St., an enterprise which is today the largest in the city. A short time after this Mr. Peters started a flour, grain and produce store, also on Unpn Street, but this business was subsequently transferred to Ward St., the exact locality being known as Peter's wharf. Deceased was ill only about a week. His physician and family gave up all hope about a week ago. Mr. Peters leaves seven sons and one daughter, all of whom are living in St. John. Mrs. Peters died a number of years ago. The funeral will take place from his residence tomorrow at 3 o'clock.

  Another of St. John's oldest and well known merchants passed away shortly after 11 o'clock last night in the person of Charles H. PETERS. The deceased was born in Hampstead (Queens Co.) and was 72 years of age. He was the son of the late Carleton PETERS. He married Hannah SLIPP d/o late George SLIPP. Mr. Peters came to St. John about 38 years ago and up to the time of his death engaged in the tannery business. For some years past he has also done business in flour, grain and produce on Peter's wharf. Seven sons and one daughter survive him, Mrs. J.T. LOGAN. Mr. Peter's death was due to heamorrhage. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon 3 o'clock from his residence, Union Street.
