Note: f 55 years, nine months, and 28 days. Ed was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church east of Exira. He attended Adair-Casey Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1971, then attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Ed returned to the family farm east of Exira. He was involved in production agriculture and raising livestock. On Sept. 22, 1973, he was united in marriage to Judy Rechtenbach at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in September, 2008. Two sons, Brent and Jason were born to this union. Ed was involved in agriculture his entire life. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Exira. His life loves and passions were raising and caring for his cow-calf herd and attending livestock shows. He especially enjoyed his boys participation in 4-H and FFA. During the years when his sons were attending Exira Schools, he was a strong supporter of all of their activities. He served as E-Club president. Besides supporting the Exira Schools, he was an avid ISU Cyclone fan. He never missed watching them on TV or attending the games when time allowed. Preceding him in death were his parents and his grandparents. Survivors include his wife Judy Schwenneker of Exira; his sons: Brent and wife Samantha Schwenneker and Jason Schwenneker all of Ankeny; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Everett and Evelyn Rechtenbach of Atlantic; his brothers and sisters: Roger and Anja Schwenneker of Knob Noster, Mo.; Rodney and Judy Schwenneker of Adair; Tom and Shelly Schwenneker of Atlantic; Ann and Craig Carrick of Dexter; his sister-in-law and husband: Janis and Dick Rabenold of Pleasant Hill; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Timothy J. Fitzner on Tuesday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church east of Exira. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery east of Exira. Casket bearers will be Greg Rasmussen, Dr. Dallas Dinkla, Merlin "Slugger" Noland, Jerry Harder, Everett Plowman, and Frank Plowman.
