Notes
a. Note:   A letter dated March 29, 1927, from Edward Ryland Stanton in Detroit [an Attorney at Law], to Samuel C. Nickle (Sr) in Calgary, reads as follows: Dear Sam: Can you give me Alice Blackwells's present name since her marriage and her address? A Mr. Frank Saunders, who formerly lived in Edmonton, is working with me on a proposition and it developed that his wife was very good friend of Alice's and would like to write her. The Saunders have lost track of Alice during the past few years and I told them I could get her address from you. Things have been very quiet in Detroit the past year, but we are hoping for the better. Mother told me that your mother was in California for the Winter. Give our regards to Olga. Edward R. Stanton ====== I am assuming this Alice was sister of Frank Blackwell and the sister-in-law of his wifeKate. I believe that Alice is the woman I later knew as Alice Turner. Alice Turner was a cousin to my grandfather, Samuel C. Nickle (Sr). My wife and I visited with Alice Turner in Edmonton, Alberta in 1960 or 1961. Alice was very involved with the Red Cross Society. At this time I do not know her husband's name. I believe that they had one son, and that he was killed in World War II. [This entry by Samuel William Aylesworth, March 23, 2007] ======
