Note: AYLESWORTH, Leonard "Roy" November 4th, 1936 - June 23rd, 2012 Roy was born in Innisfail, Alberta. In 1952, at the age of 16, Roy joined the Army. At the age of 19, Roy became the youngest Sergeant in the Canadian Armed Forces. Roy was a dedicated military man with an exemplary career. He was a life-time member of the Esquimalt Dockyard Legion Branch 172 where he held many positions including President and Sergeant at Arms. He was awarded the very coveted Palm Leaf and the Meritorious Service Medal. Roy's dedication to the Legion is evident; he is held in high regard by his fellow members and is immortalized in the mural he had commissioned for the Legion. Roy is survived by his three children, Bill Aylesworth, Cheri Mactier nee Aylesworth and Andy Aylesworth, three grandchildren Dave Mactier, Brianne Mactier and Liam Aylesworth, his brothers Arnold Aylesworth, and George Aylesworth and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Ronald Aylesworth and Bruce Aylesworth. Roy had many friends and will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their care and compassion and Legion Branch 172 for all their help and cooperation. A Celebration of Life will be held July 6th, 2012 at 2:00 at the Esquimalt Legion, 622 Admirals Rd., Victoria, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Lung Association or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 172. Funeral arrangements by CARE Funeral Services .
