  In his obituary John's birthplace is given as Perth, Ontario. In 1871
 census his birthplace is given as Quebec. Harriet, William's eldest dau
 or youngest sister, is listed, on her tombstone as born in Perth. I am no
 longer inclined to believe this. Possible they left Quebec under a
 cloud--who knows.

  According to Billee Wilson HORNBEEK, a descendant of this John WILSON, John was unable to read or write.
  Apparently, John provided conflicting information as to where he was born: in the USA, in Quebec, and in Canada-West. Billee believes that he was likely born in Quebec, but says she has no proof of this. She also speculates that John's father, William P. Wilson, may have been born in Quebec rather than in England as many records state.
