Note: According to one source, Mary Elizabeth is a twin to her brother John Albert. [Source: Pat Ryland, Arizona: 1987 document, including an "Update on the Ryland Clan".] On August 23, 2013 I located the record of her burila, confirming that she was indeed the daughter of Thomas STANTON and Rachel Ann STANTON (nee RYLAND). She died as an infant at the approximate age of 7 months. . John STANTON is listed in the 1850 United States Census, but he is not listed in the 1860 Census. As of this date, I have been unable to find any further information about this John STANTON. Perhaps he died between 1850 and 1860. (This note updated on August 23, 2013 by Samuel Wm. Aylesworth.) =========== Another researcher, writing about a person named Mary Elizabeth Stanton, states: "Mary Elizabeth Stanton was the granddaughter of Asa Stanton, a revolutionary war soldier who serve in Capt. Nioth Co., Groton Hill Fort guard and a descendant of Thomas Stanton famous indian interpreter for colonies and founder of Stonington, Conn. Information provided by DeWayne and Bob Gifford." [Source: Ancestry.com Information about the Stanton's added in January 2008 by a Juliann Shelander.] The Mary Elizabeth referred to by that note is clearly not the daughter of 'my' Thomas Stanton and his wife Rachel Ann Ryland.
