Note: Lucinda FRALICK was my 2nd-great-grandmorther. She descended from a number of Palatine German families that immgrated in 1709/1710 from Germany to England and then to what would become upper New York state in the USA. Those families settled along the Hudson River and later along the Mohawk River. Some of the earliest family names amongst these Palatine ancestors in New York state were: FROLICH, HAGEDORN, HOFFMAN, SCHAFFER, MENTGEN, JOB AND PULVER. I will attempt to trace down detail regarding each of these families during the months ahead. In summary, my findings to date are as follows. First, regarding the ancestry of my great-great-grandmother Lucinda FRALICK, who married Daniel Perry Aylesworth: - it seems very likely that Martin Frolich, Lucinda's great-grandfather, came to the USA sometime after 1709 and his family were not amongst the first set of Palatines who immigrated in 1709. See the detailed notes in this tree regarding Martin Frolich. - however, with extensive help from the two volume book "The Palatine Families of New York" by Henry Z Jones, I have been able to determine that EXCEPT FOR HER FATHER'S MALE-LINE DIRECTLY BACK TO MARTIN FROLICH, all of Lucinda's ancestry in North American can be traced to a number of the 1709 Palatine Families. - in particular, Martin's wife and all of the women who married descendants of Martin Frolich 'down to' my Lucinda were either 1709ers or descendants from 1709-families. - similarly Lucinda's mother and all of her ancestors who lived in the USA were either 1709ers or descendants from 1709-families - the family surnames on Lucinda's father's side are: GROSETHEM (not really clear about this family), HAGEDORN, MENTGEN AND JOB - the family surnames on Lucinda's mother's side are: HOFFMAN, PULVER, SCHAEFER, MATTHES, MUECK AND SCHLAUCH - it seems quite remarkable to me that this lineage '85 which goes back for about 106 years '85 involves only families who had settled early as Palatines in upper-New-York state. Clearly '85 in my case at least '85 these Palatine Families from the Hudson River and Mohawk River areas limited their marriages to families which also had migrated from the Palatine area and settled in upper New York state. Is this quite typical? Second, I'm not yet certain about the ancestry of another of my ancestros, Johannes Klein (father of Mary Klein), but it is clear that this ancestor and his wife Elizabeth Cunigunda UNKNOWN also had a German/Palatine background and they too came from the Mohawk Valley. Two others and myself are currently trying to pin down proof as to the ancestry of 'my' Johannes Klein. What I do know is that when Mary Klein, daughter of Johannes, moved to Canada following the death of her father, then Mary married a John Gottlieb Loede, who had served as a German-mercenary (if that is the correct term), engaged by the British to fight the Americans during the American Revolutionary War. My grandmother, Sarah Charlotte LLOYD, descends from this German couple. Third, another of my ancestors, John YOUNG, also on my father's side, descended from one of the 1709 Palatine Families. HOWEVER, in 1709 his family migrated from Germany to England to IRELAND, rather than upper New York state '85 and only later immigrated to Canada (in 1825). Fourth, on my mother's side, another German named Paulus Reylandt immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1750 and one of his descendants immigrated to Canada in about 1865. My great-grandmother, Martha Jane STANTON, descends from this couple, through her mother Rachel Ann RYLAND. Of course, I have ancestry from places other than the Palatines (Ireland, Sweden, Britain). However, I now know that many of my earlier ancestors on this continent came from 'Germany.' [This note added March 7, 2011 by Samuel Wm. Aylesworth] ====== Lucinda The registration of the death of Lucinda states that her religion was "Christian Scientist." See Ontario Vital Statistics, death 010447 - 1893. Lucinda's sister, Harriet married Peter Perry, a son of Daniel Perry. Daniel Perry Aylesworth was probably named after this Daniel Perry, a minister in the Methodist church. Also, Lucinda's cousin, Matilda Elizabeth Fralick, married Peter Perry Aylesworth, a brother of Lucinda's husband Daniel Perry Aylesworth.
