Note: John Bell Aylesworth and Catherine dwelt at Newburgh. He combined the labors of a sucessful farmer with the activities of several important offices: town clerk, member and president of the council of agriculture and arts of the Province of Ontario, and others. [Homer, p 319) === When his father moved north from Ernestown, Lennox & Addington, Ontario, Canada to Newburgh, John Bell Aylesworth carried forth the Aylesworth tradition of public service, becoming magistrate in Camden. John became a Camden councillor, reeve, clerk and was a member of numerous groups and organizations, including the Board of Education, the Sons of Temperance, Independent Order of Good Templares, the Dominion Grange, Patrons of Industry, Farmer's Institute, Lennox and Addington Mutual Fame Insurance Company, Ontario Agricultural Commission, Addington Agricultural Soceity and the Ontario Agricultural and Arts Association. A brother, William R. Aylesworth, became the county clerk for Hastings County. John Bell Aylesworth was the father of Sir Allen Bristol Aylesworth (1854 - 1951).
