Note: The argument is as follows for idenitfying this Francis Blackwell as the son of Benjamin BLACKWELL and Hellen CARRIE is as follows. Larry McKAY, a descendant of Mary Jane BLACKWELL (daughter of Benjamin BLACKWELL and Hellen CARRIE), wrote in 2008 as follow to Sam Aylesworth:
"In the 1871 census for London,Ontario we have Benjamin Blackwell 59 (widower) living with son Richard age 22 .Now the next household has a James Carry as head of household age 70?? (hard to make out) born in Ireland. Living with him is Francis Blackwell age 25.This alone proves nothing,but also living with them is Rebecca Blackwell age 16. I know Rebecca is Benjamin Blackwell's daughter from her Ontario marriage registration. This all together leads me to conclude that Francis and Rebecca are brother and sister probably caring for their grandfather James Carry. There has to be a family connection between Francis and James Carry because James Carry appears with Francis and family in the 1881 census. I have much documentation proving Benjamin is father of Mary Jane Blackwell Sproull. The easiest source to cite is the 1881 census where Benjamin Blackwell is living with William and Mary Sproull and family.To this day the name Ben runs in the Sproull family. So I'm pretty sure Francis and Mary Jane Blackwell are brother and sister. I also see by the 1901 census that Rachel Stanton is listed as mother-in -law living with Francis Blackwell and family so this seems to confirm that the Francis BLACKWELL who married Esther Henrietta STANTON is the same as the Francis BLACKWELL who was a brother of both Mary Jane Blackwell and Rebecca BLACKWELL and, therefore, the son of Benjamin BLACKWELL and Hellen CARRIE."
