Note: Irene Beller was baptised "Clara" (probably after her godmother, Clara Hustedde) at Holy Family Church in Tulsa, OK, then Indian territory. Her mother died when she was not even a year old and 3 years later her father moved his family to Bueyeros, NM. Her sister Agnes died shortly thereafter. She was raised by her oldest half sister, Emma, affectionately known as "Auntie". She first attended school taught by Mrs. Tessman at the Baca Ranch for 7 months, staying there with friends. When a school was opened in Bueyeros, she would stay at the rectory with her sister Emma and would spend the summers with her Dad at the homestead. When she was fifteen, her father died and she moved out from there and stayed at the homes of her brothers and sisters, helping them to care for their children. She is not found in the 1920 census at any of her siblings homes but must have been at one of them or traveling. She met Matt Konda when he came to visit with his sister Anna, married to her brother Gus. She received her engagement ring in the mail in OK where she was staying with her brother Ben in Aug.1920. They were married the following year. They farmed in Windthorst, Kansas and after Matt's death she retired to Spearville, KS.
