Note: John attended the University of Colorado in Ft. Collins, leaving just before he completed his degree in Forestry. He since completed his education with a degree in Business. He farmed the Cordes farm and worked as a mechanic for Coors Energy. After moving to Keenesburg he worked solely for Coors Energy and served as Mayor for the city for 2 terms. He and Sue built a new home on the farm at Roggen where they currently live.

Obituary for John Francis Cordes
John Francis Cordes, 67 of Roggen, CO, passed away March 21, 2017. John was born June 30, 1949 to Bernard H. Cordes and Dorothy K. Zogelman Cordes.
John attended Northeastern College in Sterling, CO, Colorado State University in Ft. Collins studying Forestry, and graduated from the University of Phoenix with a degree in Business Administration. He farmed in Roggen, and in the last few years helped harvest for the Epple family. He retired from Coors Energy Company after 26 years. He generously served his community as Councilman and Mayor of Keenesburg, as a board member of the Lost Creek Groundwater Management District, committee member for RE-3J school district reorganization, as an EMT for the Roggen Fire Department, and volunteer for the Keenesburg Fair Sale.
He had a passion for woodworking and gardening. John was generous to all; loving and dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years,Kathleen Susan Cordes; son Douglas (Dorothy) Cordes; daughter Jacqueline (Brooke) Harrison; sisters Mary Alice (Jim) Hopp of El Dorado Hills, CA, Ruth (Rich) Konda of Arvada, CO, Helen Cordes (Eric Selbin) of Georgetown, TX, Becky Cordes of Denver, CO; brothers Martin Cordes of North Platte, NE, Edward (Polly) Cordes of Columbine Valley, CO; grandchildren Max and Alex Harrison, Lamanda (Johny) Tamim, Casey (Joe) Saccomano, Dakota Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Sacred Heart Church, 38044 County Road 16, Roggen CO 80652. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Monday March 27, 2017, at Sacred Heart Church. Burial at the Heart of the Plains Cemetery, Roggen, CO.
