Notes
a. Note:   In about 1999 Mom was visiting the cemetery with Martin and myself and as we walked over to visit Joseph's grave I asked her what happened that Christmas. To my surprise, she told me and she seemed remarkably clear about the details. It was Christmas Eve, and she told Ben she didn't feel good. He, however, was supposed to sing at Midnight Mass so they agreed they would go to church and if she got worse she would leave, and he would see her from the choir loft. As it happened, her water broke as she was sitting in the pew, and friends helped her out of church. Ben took her immediately to Brighton hospital, while Susan Sigg took the children home and stayed with them. The baby died soon after he was born; he was baptised in the delivery room. I asked her if he was a "blue baby" but she said no, it wasn't that, but she did not know why he died. She still seemed to rue the decision to go to church that evening.
