John Conrad GILBERT was born on 9 Apr 1734 in Hoffenheim, Elsenz Germany,
died on 26 Jan 1812 in now Schuylkill Co. [Will bk1 p3]. Buried in Zion Red Church Cemetery,
He immigrated in 1750 in ship "Nancy". Identified as Schoolmaster at Red Church 1778; and
was a Fractur Artist.
He married Anna Elizabeth STOLTZ on 19 Apr 1757 at Trappe, Montgomery Co., PA. Anna
Elizabeth was born on 22 Jun 1738, and according to the marriage record at Trappe Church,
she was a daughter of Christian STOLTZ. She died 14 Aug 1817, and is also buried at Zion
Red Church Cemetery.
They had the following children: Mary Magdalena GILBERT; Katherine GILBERT; [Anna]
Elizabeth GILBERT; Andrew GILBERT; J Peter GILBERT who was born on 25 Jul 1766,
Christened in New Hanover Lutheran Church Montgomery Co, died on 21 Sep 1845 in
Schuylkill Co., also a "Schoolmaster"; Maria Barbara GILBERT; Anna Maria GILBERT;
Salome GILBERT; Christina GILBERT; Susanna GILBERT; twin Susanna Rosina GILBERT
was born on 22 Jun 1783, Christened on 22 Jun 1783 in Christ Church, Sponsors were

Mary Magdalena GILBERT was born on 10 Aug 1758, Christened in new Hanover Lutheran
Church Montgomery Co., PA. She died on 30 Jan 1841 in Mifflinburg, Union Co., PA,
age 82-5-2.
She married George ORWIG. George ORWIG was born on 11 Mar 1758 in Berks Co.,
Christened in Moselem Church, Richmond Twp., Berks. He died on 2 Mar 1841 in Mifflinburg,
Union Co., PA.
Katherine GILBERT was born on 2 Sep 1760, Christened in New Hanover Lutheran Church,
Montgomery Co.
She married Christopher REED. Christopher REED was born on 15 Sep 1759 in Tulpehocken
Twp., Died on 5 Dec 1823 in Schuylkill Co PA. He was buried at Zion Church Cemetery,
age 64-2-20.
They had the following children: George REED was born on 16 Apr 1783, Christened on 21
Apr 1783 in Altalaha Church-Sponsors were J George REITD and Anna Elizabetha; Conrad
REED was born on 3 Feb 1785, Christened on 6 Mar 1785 in Altalaha-Sponsors were Conrad

[Anna] Elizabeth GILBERT was born on 25 Aug 1762, Christened in NHL Montgomery Co. She
is believed to have married Henry MILLER.
Andrew GILBERT was born on 26 Sep 1764, Christened in New Hanover Lutheran Church
Montgomery Co., he married Christina MILLER.
Maria Barbara GILBERT was born on 4 Jan 1769 in Montgomery County, died on 25 Sep
1848 in Schuylkill Co., buried at Zion Church Cemetery. She had eleven children with husband
John REITH. John REITH was born on 26 Feb 1770, died on 11 Mar 1846. He is buried at
Zion Church Cemetery, his marker indicates that he was married 52 years.
Anna Maria GILBERT was born on 23 Dec 1770, Christened in New Hanover Lutheran
Church. She married Philip HEY/ HOY. [25Feb1765-21Jan1844 bu St John's Reformed
Orwigsburg].They had a son Joseph HEY/ HOY, who was born on 17 Dec 1795, Christened
on 6 Mar 1796, Martin WERNER and his wife were sponsors. A Fractur is in the
Unger/Bassler Collection at Franklin & Marshall, at Lancaster, PA He married Anna Maria
SCHEIB on 1 Dec 1828, and they had a daughter Lydia. Anna Maria [GILBERT] HEY died
5Feb1856.
Salome GILBERT was born on 7 Dec 1772, Christened in New Hanover Lutheran Church.
She married John MILLER. Christ Church records the baptism of Samuel, son of John
MILLER and wife Mary Salome, b. July 4, 1792; baptised July 26, 1792. Sponsors were
Conrad GILBERT and Anna Elizabeth, grandparents.
Christina GILBERT was born on 29 Sep 1775, Christened in New Hanover Lutheran Church.
She married Richard RICHARDS who was an executor of Conrad's estate.
Susanna GILBERT was born on 21 Jul 1778 in Brunswick Township, Christened on 6 Sep
1778 in Zion Church, Peter SCHMELGER and his wife, Anna Magdalena were sponsors. She
died in 1864, and is buried at Salem Cemetery in Orwigsburg.
She married Peter ALSPACH, also an executor of Conrad's estate. Peter ALSPACH was
born about 1776; died in 1829 in Schuylkill County. His will is dated 19Nov1829, and is
recorded in Book 1, page 135.
Susanna Rosina and Margaret GILBERT (twins) of Conrad Gilbert and Anna Elizbth, b. June
22, 1783; were baptised June 22, 1783 at Christ Church [Tulpehocken]. Sponsors were
Henry Graff and wife Susanna, and John Miller and wife.
