Text:   Col. Robert G. Harrell Retired U.S. Army Col. Robert G. Harrell, 69, Kokomo R.R. 1, also a retired teacher from Kokomo and Western high schools, died in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1981.
 Born in Amboy Sep. 5, 1911, he was the son of O.G. "Mike" and Lucy (Jeter) Harrell. He was married Dec. 23, 1934 to LaVerne Crothers, who died May 23, 1974.
 He had served during World War II and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from the army with the rank of colonel. A resident of Ervin Township most of his life, he was graduated from Young America High School and Purdue University. In addition to teaching at Kokomo and Western, he taught agricultural subjects in Napoleon and Ligonier schools.
 He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and Burlington Masonic Lodge.
 Surviving are two sons, Kent Harrell, of Geneva, N.Y., and Larry Harrell of Rossville, a brother, James D. Harrell of Kokomo R.R. 1, and five grandchildren.
 Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout Funeral Home, Russiaville, with burial in South Union Cemetery. Calling at the funeral home will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday.
