a. Note:   Christine Tinsley Rowe Hollins, 93, of Auburn died Saturday, December 13, 2003 at Auburn Health Care. She was born in Logan County on Sept. 18, 1910, the daughter of the late Thomas E. Tinsley and Pearle Turner Tinsley.
  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellis G. Rowe, Sr., and second husband, Roger H. "Sam" Hollins as well as two sons, James B. Rowe Sr. and Ellis G. Rowe Jr. and her step-daughter, Betty R. Doerting.
  A very active member of American Legion Auxiliary, Mrs. Hollins was past Kentucky State President and a founding member of local unit 258. She was also a founding member of Auburn Womens Club and Eastern Star. As director of Auburn Teen Town, Mrs. Hollins worked with the youth of Auburn for more than 30 years.
  She served for many years as a Gray Lady with the American Red Cross and as a field consultant in 15 states, forming new chapters. She was a former correspondent for the News-Democrat & Leader.
  She was a member of Gasper River Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Russellville DAR.
  Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Young Funeral Home Auburn Chapel with the Reverend Bryon Dumas officiating.
  Active pallbearers were her grandsons and in-laws: Ellis "Chip" Rowe III, James B. Rowe Jr., Karl Rowe Ashby, Eric T. Rowe, LCDR Clinton Ashby USN, Harlan J. Hess, Timothy Simmons and Rich Crump. Honorary pallbearers were Glen Tinsley, Chad Tinsley, Chris Tinsley, Kenneth H. Robbins, James R. Hollins, Robert E. Chyle, Shirley Ashby and Willis Shores.
  Mrs. Hollins is survived by one son, John T. Rowe and wife Donna of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Christine R. Ashby and husband Claude of Auburn; Polly R. Tyner & husband Randal of Mountain View, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, Nancy E. Rowe of Owensboro and Carrol C. Rowe of Auburn; her step son-in-law, Walter Doerting of Louisville; five step children-- James R. Hollins, Laura H. Thompson, Mary H. Carter, Della H. Schild, and Zella H. Murad; 13 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
  Memorial contributions may be made to Gasper River Cumberland Presbyterian Church or American Red Cross/Logan County Chapter
