.Anna Garst, dau. of John Nicholas Gerst, I (2). b. May 8, 1764, d. June 19, 1821, Married July 25, 1784, to Daniel Frantz Sr, b. Feb 9, 1763, d. May 17, 1843, son of Michael Frantz, II and Magdalena Zug Frantz. Moved from Pennsylvania, soon after marriage, to Botetourt County, Virginia, and from there to Clark County, Ohio, where Anna died June 19, 1821. Aug 21st, Daniel married Magdalena Minnich. She died Sept 8, 1866.

Anna Garst Frantz was buried at Brook's Grove Cemetery, near Stanford, Ill.
On page 451, History of Church of the Brethren, we find John Frantz, the ninth of Anna's eleven children was baptized in 1822, elected deacon in 1827, to the ministry in 1833, ordained in 1847. Following the death of Elder Ebersole in 1850, was given charge of the church, and served as Bishop until 1877. He died on the homestead now occupied by his daughter Phoebe Lane.

JOHN FRANTZ
John Frantz, son of Daniel and Anna Frantz (nee Garst), was born in Botetourt County, Virginia, January, 1802. He came with his parents to Ohio in 1816, was baptized at twenty, and married to Anna Mary Ohmert in 1823. To them were born eleven children. He was elected deacon in 1827 ; to the ministry in 1833 ; ordained in 1847. At the death of Elder Ebersole in 1850 he was given charge of the church. He served as bishop until 1877 when, by reason of age and lack of English, he resigned. He died August 25, 1866, on the homestead now occupied by his daughter, Phoebe Lane. Like his uncle Christian, he was a typical pioneer preacher. He traveled much on horseback. Besides his duties in Ohio, he had the oversight of churches in Indiana.
John Frantz was born Jan 24, 1802 in Botetourt County, Virginia, and died Aug 25, 1886 in Clark County, Ohio. He married Anna Mary Ohmart 20 SEP 1821 in Clark County, Ohio, daughter of Christian Ohmart and Anna Weaver. She was born 20 MAY 1804 in Shenandoah, Page County, Virginia, and died 23 JAN 1890 in New Carlisle, Clark County, Ohio.

[4] Catherine Frantz was born 24 JAN 1827 in Clark Co, Ohio, and died 23 DEC 1852. She married Abraham Steele Studebaker 30 APR 1847 in New Carlisle, Clark Co, Ohio, son of Abraham Studebaker and Elizabeth Steele. He was born 1824 in Miami Co, Ohio, and died 1916.
[5] Jacob Frantz was born 9 APR 1828 in Clark Co, Ohio, and died 11 APR 1865 in Virden, Macoupin Co, Illinois.
[6] Salome Frantz was born 11 SEP 1830 in Clark Co, Ohio, and died 12 OCT 1914 in McPherson, McPherson Co, Kansas.
[7] John Frantz was born 20 JUL 1833 in Clark Co, Ohio, and died 18 MAR 1861 in Clark Co, Ohio. He married Sarah Brubaker 28 JAN 1855, daughter of Jonathan Brubaker and Barbara Crist. She was born 26 NOV 1837 in Clark Co, Ohio, and died 19 JUN 1858 in Clark Co, Ohio.
