Notes
a. Note:   "The history herewith given to the family is necessarily more or less incomplete, but much valuable data regarding our family is herewith presented and may aid some subsequent historians on a more complete work.
"This history is respectfully dedicated to our local pioneer ancestor William Halarmus Minor and his wife Lettice Voorhees for his foresight and fortitude to migrate from NJ with wife and son Peter, to the Lakes Country in 1801 or 1802 following the trail of Sullivan Army to Lodi landing on Seneca Lake where the army had left an encampment and settlement. Together with other settlers, [they] cut a road 2 miles east of now Lodi village to the Newtown Road; the first and only road through now Seneca County.
"The historic Newtown Road joins the Genesee Turnpike at Seneca Falls and extends south to Newtown, a few miles down the river from present Elmira, NY. The road follows the ridge between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes and was the dividing boundary between the Seneca and Cayuga Indian nation.
"On arrival at the Newtown Road, William H. Minor went north about 3/4 of a mile and cleared 9 acres of land on the west side of the road and built a log cabin. The ownership of this land was acquired by squatters rights; and has remained the property of the Minor Wyckoff family until a few years ago. It was sold with other lands, as by thrift and excellent judgement. At one time, the extra mile square, and other farms adjoining were the property of the Minor, Wyckoff and Voorhes families. William Minor died in March 23, 1860 and his wife on the following day. They were buried in the earliest cemetery in this vicinity, the McNeil Cemetery, 1 1/4 miles north and 1/2 mile east of his cabin site, where so many of the pioneers of this section now rest. Two sons of William Minor lived south of this mile. At the time of death, William Minor was at the home of his son. His wife at the home of Dennis V. Minor, both about 1 1/2 miles apart. The funeral procession for each started at the signal of the ringing of the farm bell. The procession met on the Newtown road and proceeded north to the McNeil cemetery where the couple lies in a double grave.
"We can appreciate the pioneer spirit which prompted his son Peter to migrate to the Genesee Valley but his choice of Allegany County was not as successful as his father had been, in Seneca County.
"The familiy should express a debt of gratitude to Miss Alice Minor, Mrs. Jane Minor Ullman, Mrs. Nellie Minor, for starting this 'work of love,' and to John and Henry Minor for completing some.
"Your affectionate Uncle, Halsey Parshall Minor"

"Henry 1st Minor had passed on before, all other sons of Wm. H. Minor were in the service." - HP Minor letter 8/5/1957 Perhaps "H" is for Harsac. "
per Between the Lakes p.49, "Wilhelmus Minor settled on lot 57, and according to a descendent, Halsey Minor, acquired the land by "Tomahawk Rights.""
