Notes
a. Note:   Between the Lakes (Patterson 1976): He was a director of the Ithaca & Geneva Railroad (later known as Lehigh Valley Railroad), and owned stock in it, which was donated to the Interlaken Historical Society by his grandson, Halsey P. Minor. He donated land for the Farmer Union Free School. He was chaplain of Interlaken Farmer Grange #160 when it was organized in 1886. He was involved with the creation of the cemetary.
History of the Parshall Family, pp.135-6: "Caleb Halsey Parshall removed from Long Island to Trumansburg, Tompkins Co., NY in 1831. Six years later he went to Farmer Village, Seneca Co., NY wher he thenceforth made his home. There, in quietness and prosperity, he lived the peaceful, useful life of a studious and intelligent farmer; loving his books and his fields; prudent in management, genial in the social circle, winning the respect and regard of all who knew him. For thirty years he was a member of the Reformed Church of Farmer Village, exemplifying in his life the religion he professed. (The Ovid Independent, 10/3/1883)" Includes portrait.
James Parshall p.37: "Lyman B. Parshall, of Farmer Village, NY stated, in a letter written 12/30/1879, that his father was Caleb Halsey Parshall, born on Long Island in 1809, was a son of George, also born on Long Island, in 1772, and who died there in 1825. He thought the father of George was David but was not certain. He further said that 'Phinas Parshall, of Cherry Valley, NY, was uncle to my grandfather, George, and used to visit him when my father was a boy, on Long Island.' It would seem not at all improbable that George's father is David4 [listed in this genealogy] were it not for the fact of Phineas being mentioned as his brother. That could not be as David mentions the names of all his children in his will, and that of Phineas is not among them."

Obit: "Farmer Vilage - Mr. C. H. Parshall, a well known citizen, died at his home in this village on the 27th ult., in the seventy-fourth [someone has written in 'fifth'] year of his age. He was a man quiet and unassuming, but of positive convictions, generous impulses, and christian life. For thirty years he was a member of the Reformed Church in this place. His wife, who with five children survives him, is a duaghter of the late Lyman Bradley, of Trumansburg. Funeral services on the 29th ult. were conducted by Rev. Mssrs. Nasholds and Halsey, and were attended by many mourning friends.
"Mr. Thomas W. Parshall, owing to the delay of a telegram, did not reach home in time to attend the funeral of his father, but spent Sunday and Monday at his old home."

Obit: "Mr. C. H. Parshall, who died on the evening of the 28th ult, at his residence near Farmer Village, was born in Suffolk county, Long Island, August 21, 1809, and removed to Trumansburg, Tompkins county, in 1831. Six years later he came to Farmer Village, which since that time has been his home. Here, in quietness and prosperity, he lived the peaceful, useful life of a studious farmer, loving his books and his fields, prudent in management, genial in the social circle, winning the respect and regard of all who knew him. He was one of a family of seven children, of whom two are living: Mrs. Robinsons, of Long Island, and Mrs. Roberts, of Racine, Wis.
"His own family included eight children: Lyman B., of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Thomas W., in business in New York city; Sarah L., and Mrs. A.V. Minor, of Farmer Village; Mrs. Thomas Austin, of Spring Station, Ind.; living. George, Mrs. Hannah Morris, and Wilhelmina, deceased.
"In the year 1835, Mr. Parshall was married to Betsey, daughter of the late Lyman Bradley, of Trumansburg, who survives him. For thirty years he has been a member of the Reformed Church, of Farmer Village, exemplifying in his life the religion he professed. He had been in failing health for nearly three years, but until a fw weeks ago, when there was a decided change for the worse, he was able to oversee the work of his farm, and to enjoy the conversation of his friends. For weeks he endured days of pain, and nights of anguish, but his last hours were peaceful and painless, until, like a tired child, he fell asleep."

I discovered 7/2000 that his house is now the Lively Run goat farm in Interlaken, NY, just south of Lakeview Cemetery on route 96.
Interlaken Review 12/15/1894: In 1885 the Parshall farm was purchased by S.F. Smalley.
ibid p.122: CHP was a director of the Geneva-Ithaca RR. Big celebration 9/13/1873 when the last spike was drawn in Romulus.
Town of Covert Assessment Roll Index 1855-1895: lot 42, east side of Main St
 1855 - 98 acres
 1865 - 95 acres
 1875 - 93 acres
(in 1885 indeed Sebring Smalley has 90 acres in lot 42 for the first time, since he purchased this mysteriously shrinking parcel). I can account for one shrinkage - in 1867 he donated land for the school - Between the Lakes p.167
