Note: Funeral Services for D. A. Travis were held from his late home at two o`clock, Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Alma Broadhead, assisted by Rev. Jeffers. Interment in Lake View cemetery, Interlaken. Mr. Travis was the oldest son of Mr. And Mrs. Smith Travis and was born in Enfield, July 7, 1851, where he grew to young manhood. In 1866 he moved with his father`s family to the place now owned by Robert Thompson, purchasing the same upon his father`s death. March 10, 1875, he was united in marriage to Georgia Brokaw, of Ovid, who alone survives him. Eighteen years ago he came to the place at the center, where the remainder of his life was spent. Nearly fourteen years ago, he met with an accident which rendered him helpless. During all these years, his wife ministered faithfully to his necessities, surely earning the plaudit: "Well Done, good and Faithful Servant." She has the sympathy of a host of friends in her affliction. Monday morning at nine o`clock, his spirit took its departure. Interlaken Review: 11/25/1899: "Mrs. Weatherby of Enfield, NY was a recent guest at D.A. Travis" 10/12/1901: "D. A. Travis, Mrs. Don Travis and daughter attended the Pan-American this week." This is very odd because I don't show him with a daughter. I wonder if the newspaper ever mixed DA up with his brother DS. The paper clearly printed an A here, and usually referred to his brother as Don Travis or just Travis (when referring to his orchestra); I never saw it written DS. 12/5/1902: referred to as D.A. Travis. Entertaining friends from Enfield. 2/12/104: "Ed. F. Green stays on the Lewis Bodine farm recently purchased by D. A. Travis."
