  A Biographical Record of Schuyler County, NY, 1903 : "M. LaFayette WICKHAM. M. LaFayette is William Jr's. youngest child, born 13 Aug 1836. M. LaFayette was a teacher in Niagara co., NY and Hector, NY and then a farmer. He married at about age 29 to Pruda A. ERWAY on 17 Jan 1866. Pruda was daughter of Benjamin ERWAY and Mary DUNHAM. Pruda was born in Steuben co., NY. M. LaFayette lived on 68 acres of his grandfather's original tract.
 M. LaFayette and Pruda had 12 children, including:
 - Mary E. - Mrs. Wilmer LaFEVER of Corning, NY.
 - Cassie D. - wife of E.D. HOLDEN - resided in Boston, Mass.
 - Harry - resided in Boston.
 - Harriet - Mrs. Claude L. CARR - resided in Knoxville, PA.
 - Edith - at home with parents c1902.
 - Benjamin - at home.
 - Randolph - at home.
 - child - died in infancy.
 - Frances Augusta - died at age 2 yrs.
 - George G. - died at age 10 months.
 - Ira - died at age 1 year. "

  Obituary ESG 12-14-1916 p.14 col 8: "Corning, Dec 14 - M. Lafayette Wicksham, aged eighty years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wilmer LaVefer, 8 Spruce Street. Mr. Wicksham came here from the home of his son, Harry, of Lynn, Mass., four weeks ago, and intended to spend the winter at the home of his daughter. He was born in Hector, NY, where the old Wicksham homestead is located. He was a son of the late William Wicksham of Hector, and the last of a family of 14 children. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Wilmer LaFever at whose home he died; Mrs. Frank Lowe of Hector, Mrs. E.D. Holden and Mrs. Frank Knowles of Malden, Mass; Mrs. Claude Carr of Batavia; and by three sons, Harry E. and Benjamin of Malden, Mass., and Randolph Wicksham of Ithaca."
  Obituary: "M.L. Wickham, aged ?? years, passed away 4 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Wilmer LaFever of ? Spruce Street following a stroke of apoplexy suffered at 10 o'clock last night from which he never regained consciousness.
 "Mr. Wickham cam to Corning four weeks ago from the home of his son Harry E. Wickham of Lynn, Mass., to spend the winter. His former home was at Hector, NY. Mr Wickham was the last of a family of fourteen children. His father, William Wickham, was a pioneer settler of Hector. His wife died 20 years ago.
 "The deceased led an honorable and upright life. He was highly respected by all who knew him. Mr. Wickham was able despite his age to work out many difficult mathematical problems. He read considerably and was very conversant with timely subjects.
 "Mr. Wickham is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. Wilmer LaFever of Corning, Mrs. Frank Lowe and Mrs. Frank Knowles of Malden, Mass., and Mrs. Claude Carr of Batavia, and by three sons, Harry Wickham of Lynn, Mass., Benjamin Wickham of Malden, Mass., adn Randolph Wickham of Ithaca.
 "The funeral arrangements are incomplete."

 "Early Wednesday morning, Dec 13, 1916, occurred the death of M. LaFayette Wickham, aged 80 years and 4 months. At the time of his death, he was at the home of his daughter, Mary LaFever, at Corning, where he expected to spend the winter. LaFayette was the youngest child of William and Martha Hulse Wickham, pioneer settlers of Hector. His grandfather, William Wickham, was the first white settler of this town, having come here with his family in 1891 [sic] from Orange County. There are now living in Schuyler about 100 descendants of the second William Wickham.
 "LaFayette was the last of a family of 14 children and he spend nearly all his life on the home farm. About four years ago he went to live with his son Harry W., at Lynn, Mass.
 "In January 1866, he was married to Pruda Erway who died 21 years ago. To them were born 12 children, eight of whom are still living: Mary LaFever of Corning, Catherine Lowe, of the home warm, Carrie Holden, Benjamin A. and Edith Knowles of Malden, Mass.; Harry E. of Lynn, Harriett Carr of Batavia, and Randolph of Ithaca.
 "Mr. Wickham had been a professing Christian for over 20 years and has always been an honest, upright citizen, holding the respect of all. He leaves to mourn their loss, besides his family, 14 grandchildren and many neices and nephews.
 "The funeral was attended on Sunday afternoon from his late home, and the services were in the Hector Church. The bearers were all nephews - D.C. and L.M. Howell, Eugene and G.W. [?] Erway, Monroe Dunham [?], George Wickham, and M.E. Howell. There were many beautiful floral pieces. The burial was in the cemetery close by the church, by the side of many loved ones.

  Their house, existing in 2016, is about 100 yds north of the William Wickham Sr historical plaque marking the site of his house.
