Note: History of Tompkins Co [NY], p.197: Squier [sic] J. Nobles, son of John Nobles, came out to Enfield from PA with his father, mother, and brothers Charles and Timothy B. when his father bought land here. Landmarks of Tompkins Co., NY, p.351: "In the fall of 1809 two brothers, Timothy B. and Squire J. Noble, came from PA to look at some Enfield land which had been purchased by their father. In the following spring they and their father (John) and mother came in and settled on a tract of 400 acres on the south side of what has been known as 'Noble Street.' The tract ws equally divided among the four." The Town of Enfield, NY - Christian Hill to Enfield Falls 2002 p.20: "In the fall of 1809, Timothy B. and Squire J., sons of John and Elizabeth Nobles, journeyed to Enfield from Newport Twp, PA, to look over the the property of Lot No 73 [Enfield NY]. They then returned home." Tompkins Co. Atlas, p.31, 3rd square up on left 7/2000 we drove past the spot in Enfield where the atlas shows S.J. Nobles. There is a very nice Victorian-type house with stone foundation. I have a photo.
