"A Fatal Accident in New Hudson: Henry Miner, of New Hudson, lost his life on just Wednesday last by the sudden bursting of a balance wheel attached to the shaft of a circular saw run by an ordinary eight horse power. The wheel was ?? located that Mr. Miner in operating the feed carriage, bent over the wheel often touching it, and it was while in this position that the wheel from some unknown cause burst into fragments, the rapid revolution throwing the pieces off in all directions with violent force. One piece took off the left arm of the unfortunate man, while another wounded the right severely, and the third piece did the fatal work by entering the left side a little below the region of the heart tearing a hole in its passage as large as a man's hand. Death resulted in about two hours [ugh]. The machine was owned by Geo. Vannoy, and the wheel had done service for twenty years. No reason is known for its bursting. Many others were at work around the machine, but fortunately all escaped inury." Cuba NY Patriot, 11/9/1877
