Note: In Vol. 2, Page 270 (Branford) is a deed - "Hartford July 5, 1695 I John Linsley of Branford (deed) unto my loving grandchild John Linslay of Branford, 20 acres of plowing land----he to pay me 10L p year so long as I shall live. Witnesses : Nath Stanley, Caleb Peck". These were Hartford, CT men, and the deed was acknowledged in Hartford. Three years later John 3rd is mentioned in connection with his grand-father's estate inventory. Then like the two other Johns, he is listed in the town records. 112:294 - Town meeting 6 Mar. 1699-1700. "Serjnt John Rose and John Linly are chosen fence wervers for cannee brook quarter." 2:309 - Town meeting in Branford 4 Sept 1700 warnd by Jno Linly. 2-317 - Town meeting 21 Mar 1700/1 Deacon John Rose and Jno Linly are chosen fence viewers for cannee brook quarter." 2-382 - 28 Dec 1702 - Same action again. 2-342 - 27 Feb 1701/2 "layd out to John Linly 8 acres at pine brook." 2-407 - 28 Jun 1703 "John Linly of Branford (alias Guilford) deeds to Caleb Frisbie of Branford 12 acres from the Town and 8 acres at pine Brook." 2-408 - Caleb Frisbe deeds land to John Linly. 2-472 - 9 Mar 1703/4 Proprietors of undivided lands agree, and one of the signers is Jon Linly. 2-503 - Town meeting 6 Dec 1704. - Jon Linly a fence viewer. 2-614 - 20 May 1707 "John Howd and John Linsley selectmen." Then, "At Court of Probate held at New Haven, June 22, 1725 Adm. of the unadministered estate of John Linsley the first of that name in Branford, Dec'd, was granted unto John Linsley grandson of the Deed on his bond 1000L. The said administrator exhibited an inventory of the estate which was approved for record." (Book 5, Page 256) Also from these records on the same day. "Adm of the unadministered estate of John Linsley 2nd of that name Dec'd was granted to John Linsley eldest son of the Dec'd on bond of 900L, the widow under hand desiring the same administration granted." Thus John 3rd became Administrator on both his fathers, and grandfathers estates, and as his mother had been administratrix, he was replacing her at her request, she was 69 at the time, but lived another 10 years. John 3rd was 45 at this time. These estates were very late in being settled. John 3rd married Mary Harrison 6 Jun 1699. She was born 10 Feb 1668/9 (Branford ) and the daughter of Ensign Thomas Harrison born 1630, died 1704 who married (2) 29 Mar 1666 N.H.V. Elizabeth sister of Elezer Stent and a widow. Mary was granddaughter of Richard Harrison of West Kirby, Cheshire, Eng. who took the oath of allegiance in New Haven 5 Aug 1644 and was one of those reported as coming down to New Haven from Wethersfield. He was one of those allotted land in Branford 7 Jul 1646 with John Linsley Senr. He is reported as marrying widow Ellen Thompson and died 25 Oct 1653.
