Administration on Estate of Benjamin Linsley of Farmington, granted 13 Oct 1784 to Keturah Linsley. Distribution to widow Keturah, daughters Sarah, Keturah, Rachel, Lucretia, Dorcas, sons, Lud, Jared, Benjamin, and Eldad. (Farmington Probate)
Benjamin, Eldad and the Gridleys and their mother went to Vernon, Oneida Co., N.Y. and probably all the rest except Lud. Jared is believed to have settled in Canada.
In the History of Bristol (New Cambridge) published in 1907 on page 379 is given a picture of a "Diploma" given to those children who stood at the head of the class in spelling, in the winter term of School. No date is given, but the writer states it must have been in the 1790's. Fifteen names are shown, ten Lewis, and five others, one being Benjamin Lindsley. This must be young Benjamin above 6-64 who would then have been in his teens, and the family must have been in New Cambridge then. At that date, what is now Bristol was known as New Cambridge and included what is now Burlington, and was all part of Farmington.
