a. Note:   1) Abia was persuaded to move to Ohio by his brother Eliada. They left Bristol, Ct on July 4th 1811. (Source: Pioneer History of Medina County Ohio by N.B. Northrop, 1861, Page 32)
  2) Abia was a loyal citizen, and served his country in the war of 1812. In 1802, he, with his wife, went to Connecticut, where they remained until 1811. They then came West, and settled in the Western Reserve. This trip was made overland in a two wheeled cart, drawn by a yoke of oxen, and one horse, driven at tandem.
