a. Note:   N3 Lived in same house as he was born throughout his life. Farmed land purchased from his father, Joseph. After Joseph died, farmed his land as well. Wanted to be a pilot. Joined the National Guard as a member (clarinetist) of the 110th Medical Regiment Band of Crete, a forerunner to the 43rd Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard. Played saxophone in several dance bands (Jolly Ramblers, Ben Marcelino Orchestra, Bud Holloway Orchestra). Excellent snooker player.
  Frank Joseph Nohavec was born Oct. 31, 1905 in Crete, the son of Joseph F. and Adella (Papik) Nohavec, and died April 23, 1990, in Crete at the age of 84. He grew up in Saline County and graduated from Crete High School in 1924. He married Iola Marcelino Sept. 14, 2931 in Lincoln.
  Frank was a farmer all his life. After his retirement from active farming, he continued to live on his farm. Frank and Iola moved to Crete Manor in 1986. He played clarinet and saxophone in several local dance bands, as well as in the Noational Guard 110th Medical Regimental Band. He was a member of ZCBJ Lodge 3 in Crete and Crete Sokols.
  Nohavec was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Iola; and sister, Anna Winklepleck. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law robert and Jean Ann Nohavec of Park City, Utah, and Richard and Merrijo Nohavec of Lincoln; sister, Delores Trivitt of Adkins, Texas; and grandchildren, Robert Nohavec, Elizabeth Chapman, Suzanne Nohavec, and Donald Nohavec; great-grandson Michael Joseph Chapman; nieces and nephews.
  Services were held April 27, 1990 at Kuncl Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Bonneau officiating, assisted by Rose Zumpfe for ZCBJ Lodge #. Soloist was Marilyn Kuncl with Pat Butt accompanist.
  Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Nohavec, Carl Marcelino, Ben Marcelino, Edward A. Papik, Frank Papik, and Lumir Zajicek.
