Note: N4 Was partially deaf from fall down cellar stairs at age of 4. Very kind, loving disposition. According to her son, Robert, "She would never have intentionally hurt anyone's feelings." Loved music and polka dancing. Iola Gertrude Nohavec was morn Sept. 12, 1908, to Franklin J. and Josephine (Prochaska) Marcelino on their farm at rural Crete. She attend Crete public schools and on Sept. 14, 1932, married Frank J. Nohavec in Lincoln. She lived in the Crete community all her life, residing at Crete Manor since Oct. 6, 1986. She died Feb. 23, 1988, at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by sisters Gertrude Valenta and Pauline Kolarik, and brother Robert "Bob" Marcelino. She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Nohavec, son Robert, and daughter-in-law Jean Ann Nohavec of Sandy, Utah; son Richard, and daughter-in-law Merrijo Nohavec of Lincoln; sisters, Helen Hejl of Crete and Marie Marisak of Lakewood, Colorado; grandchildren Robert Doyle Nohavec of Sandy, Utah, Elizabeth Chapman of Chandler, Arizona, Suzanne Renee Nohavec and Donald Richard Nohavec of Lincoln, one great grandchild, Michael Joseph Chapman of Chandler, Arizona; nieces and nephews. She was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge of Crete. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 27, at Kuncl Funeral Home with Rev. Robert H. Conner officiating. Crete ZCBJ Lodge No. 3 also conducted services with Mrs. Helen Kupka, speaker. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Albert Horky, Carl Marcelino, Ed Valenta, Mike Mariska, Robert Marcelino, and Ben Marcelino.
