Note: <p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Sgt. Ellsworth Welsey Stephens, or as we know him as Al, married my great-grandma Garnett Hall in 1947 and adapted my grandpa, John Stephens. Al Stephens was a great father figure for my grandpa, and my grandpa looked up to and respected him. Al tragically passed away in 1953 in a car accident when my grandpa was only 8 years old. Al was a Sergeant in the U.S. Navy during WWII and took part in the liberation of the Philippines. He was awarded a bronze star.
