DEATH: She died at 5:52 AM (by fitbit) at home. It has been suggested that she may have died of a coronary embolism. She had surgery on her leg wound on Tues, 9 Oct, and was scheduled to see the doctor at 11:45 (12 Oct). She has struggled with her health for the last year or more. She had nasal surgery in August and has been coughing ever since. After the surgery on Tuesday (the second one to try to bring the wound (from falling over a box and brusing the leg) under control and heal), she started feeling much worse. I got her a wheelchair Tuesday night. We went to the ER at Radford on Wed afternoon and the just rebandaged it with the appointment for Friday. When we got home the power was off, only to come back on at 11:15 AM on Thursday. She was still able to get into the wheelchair during the day on Thursday to go to the kitchen or bathroom. She tired to eat some chicken noodle soup I made for her. She had felt constipated most of Thursday and tried an enema that evening. She hurt so bad. She keep coughing a lot and seemed to be getting mucus up. I don't remember if it was around 12 that I accompanied to the bathroom after she threw up what was left of the soup. She has also taken about 4 oz of Mucilax equivalent earlier in the evening that I mixed for her. At 12 she was able to go to the bathroom with my help and get back to bed. I think it was about 3 AM that I got up with her to go to the bathroom and it was very difficult to get her in there and when I pretty much got her back into the chair (sort of - she was not able to help at all). I got her back to the bed, but had top lay her on the floor as I could not lift her up to the bed. So I got pillows and propped her up and put covers on her. I went to the recliner (I wish I had stayed in the bedroom with her). At 3:15 I sent an email to Diana and Izz about needing help in the morning to get Mom to the hospital for her appointment. I messaged them at 3:34. I am fuzzy on the rest. Some where around 5 or maybe a bit later I checked on Mom to be sure she was warm and such. I had also put a space heater in the room to keep her warm. As I recall she still seemed to be OK and even felt she maybe was resting better. I was not checking for pulse or breath then (I am not real sure of the time. It is possible I went to check on her because it was quieter, not sure). The next I remember was waking up in the recliner about 8:11 and going in to check on her. At that time, she was cold and I did not feel any breathing. That was when I called 911. The EMS arrived and checked her and looked at her back to tell me she had been dead for some time (they told me nicely, not as bluntly as this sounds).
Diana came over and has been helping me and Paul drove in from MD. We went to dinner at Friends and Family with all the kids and Paul. Paul and I came back and talked about various things for hours. I tried to show him where all the picture files were located on the computers and where my files on taxes and mutual funds are located. During Blue Bloods, I watched the show and tried to clean up the bedroom a bit (still missing the one pillow cover that matches the bedspread). Paul helped some, but I really needed to do it. I went to bed and read the Isaiah 40:31 that Diana posted. About 5 I woke up and thought about checking her fitbit (still on her). That was when I discoved the 5:52 time, assuming I read the fitbit correctly. I used the web app on the computer for that and also tried to use the app on the IPhone -- not really my thing. I will have the kids check it out today. I need to go back to bed.
