a. Note:   Robert Hyslop was a Class 1 Stoker and was awarded the British War medal, the Victory Medal, the 1914-5 Star and the Silver War Badge. The latter mentioned was given to men to wear on their civilan clothing to show that they had served honourably prior to being discharged before the end of hostlities. His militray number was K 22863. He signed up for continuous service of 12 years from 23 July 1914
 but was discharged on 31 December 1919 as an invalid due to a hernia. During his service he served
 on HMS Pembroke(shore), HMS Brilliant, and HMS Ark Royal.
