Note: 83. Watkins Nisbit Cox (William, Bathsheba, Quinton) was born on July 26, 1861. The George M. Moore petition calls him Walter. Watkins N. Cox has not been located in the 1880 census. Cox died on March 29, 1946 and is buried in Grapevine Cemetery. The Madisonville Messenger contained the following obituary on March 29, 1946: Watt N. Cox, 84, Dies At Anton Watt Nisbet Cox, retired farmer, who was in his 85th year, died at 2:15 a.m. today in his home at Anton. He had been ill of pneumonia since March 20. Mr. Cox, son of the late William Thomas and Weltha Ann Nisbet Cox, pioneer Hopkins county residents, was born July 26, 1861. He married Miss Jane Florence Niblak in October 1882, and to this union seven children were born. One child died in infancy. For many years Mr. Cox had been a member of the Bethlehem Christian church and was widely known in Hopkins county. Funeral Services Sunday Surviving are the widow; five sons, Walter Cox, Robert P. Cox, both of Anton; Rev. James H. Cox, Louisville; Hugh L. Cox, Madisonville; Rev. Frank W. Cox, pastor of the Earlington Methodist church, and one daughter, Miss Nellie Ann Cox, Anton; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. W. T. Pritchett, Modesto, California. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Browders church. Rev. J. Edward Cayce, pastor of Madisonville First Christian church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. C. W. Simpson, Hanson, pastor of Browders church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Watkins N. Cox had seven children: Waller, Robert, James, Hugh, Frank, _____, and Nellie.
