At The Citadel in World War II, the younger military faculty membershad to go off to war. Thus Col. Louis Knox became Commandant. He wastoo old to go to war.
He came back to Texas every summer to visit. He and his wife wouldspend two weeks at the home of John Bates Knox. In 1945, he died of aheart attack on the train between Houston and Giddings.
