  Jackson Fariss enlisted from Halifax county and served in the War of1812 from July 1, 1814. He served as a Corporal under Capt. WilliamBailey in the Fourth Regiment of Virginia militia. He enlisted for aterm of 6 months, and continued in actual service for the term of 3months, and was honorably discharged at Ellicott's Mill about October10, 1814.

 List of sales of the estate of Jackson Fariss on December 13, 1841,recorded December 27. Buyers included Mrs. Rebecca Fariss, John J.Fariss, Anderson C. Fariss, Sarah Fariss, Martha Fariss, and WilliamFariss. Administrators were Rebecca Fariss and John J. Fariss.
  Division of slaves from the estate of Jackson Fariss on December 10,1841, recorded February 28, 1842, names his widow Rebecca Fariss. Theestate is to be divided into 8 parts, with one part to each of theseheirs: John J. Fariss, William Fariss, Caroline L. M. Fariss, SarahFariss, Martha Fariss, Rebecca Skinnell, Jane Pullen, and Thomas A.Fariss.
  Allotment of slaves from the estate of Jackson Fariss dated December16, 1841, recorded May 23, 1842, were divided in 8 parts as above plus anumber to the widow Rebecca Fariss.
  Division of the land of Jackson Fariss deceased, January 28, 1880.The land was on both sides of Clayton Mull Road on the west, leading byEphesus Church to Liberty, adjoining the lands of John Fariss, DavidMcGhee, Chafin, Wad, and others. Lot 1 of 63 acres to Thomas Fariss;lot 2 of 57 acres and 5 1/4 acres to Jane Pullin; lot 3 of 64 acres and5 3/4 acres to John Fariss; lot 4 of 64 acres to Rebecca Rebecca G.Skinnell; lot 5 of 41 1/4 acres with mansion house to Sallie C. Peters;lot 6 of 64 acres to Caroline Nichols; lot 7 of 64 1/2 acres to WilliamFariss; and lot 8 of 61 acres to the heirs of Martha Patsy Fariss.
