Note: Born near Clarksville, TX. Grew up on farm near Chilton, TX The family nearly lost the farm during the depression of the 1930's and Wilson remembered being ashamed to have the shoe salesman see the holes in his current shoes when he bought new ones. They had a small, 3 bedroom house and at one time had the following people all living there: Grandparents Flowers, Elwyn Flowers Gus and Zie Fariss and 4 children: Augusta Wilson Bob Fran Wilson could not remember where everyone slept. Graduated Chilton High School (11 grades) in 1933 A graduate of Baylor University (BS Chemistry) in 1936 and Rice Institute(Chemical Engineer) in 1938. After graduating from Baylor there were no jobs in Chemistry so he lived with his aunt, Emily Fariss Joekel and family on Bolsover which was one block from the Rice Institute Campus to get his Engineering degree. Supposedly when he was about to graduate from Rice they discovered he was missing one mechanical drawing class and wanted him to attend for another semester. He told them he already had a college degree and he had a job offer, so he was not staying in school. Rice gave him his diploma because they did not want him working as a non-graduate Rice Engineer. Met Ethel Rose who was a nursing student at University of Texas John Sealy in Galveston and they married in 1943 in Port Arthur, TX. He worked for Pan American Petroleum which became American Oil Co from 1938 to 1958, first in Texas City, then in New York He attended the Harvard Advanced Management school in 1952. Left American Oil to become Vice President of Sales for Texas CityRefining Co in Texas City, TX Retired December 1973 Moved to Gross Isle, Abbeville, Vermilion Parish, LA 1974. Broke his back near Waco, TX in November 1980 and became a paraplegic Moved to Lake Jackson, TX in 1983 to be near only child, Frances LouiseFariss Smith (Louise) Lived at Turner Terrace, Galveston and LaMarque Nursing Home after wife Ethel Rose died in 1984 Have copy of Birth Certificate Have copy of Marriage License
