a. Note:   At the time of the Revolution there were three brothers living in Chatam,N.C.
 John, Mathew and Ambrose Ramsey.
 Ambrose lived and died a batchelor. He was prominent and active manduring and after the war. Abrose Ramsey and John Birdsong were membersfrom Chatham at a meeting of the delegates at Hillsbor Assembled, August21, 1775 to organize a state government and take measures for opposingthe royal Government. At this meeting Ambrose was appointed one of thefield Officers for Chatham with rank of Colonel. Ambrose Ramsey andJohn Birdsong were also member of the Proviencial Congress at Halifax inNovember 1776 which formed the State Constitution. Ambrose Ramsey wasalso a member of the state senate from 1777 to 1781 inclusive.
