Note: Born at Goree, Knox County, Texas, near the Brazos River. Was 3 years old when his family moved to Oklahoma. Attended his first school in a half-dugout on land where Ted Farissnow lives in 1992. Then he attended New Hope School, across the road, east of the Trail Cemetery. He finished the Eighth Grade in Taloga, where his father operated a butcher shop. He then attended HillsBusiness College in Oklahoma City. He was a farmer and rancher. We think his land was originally filed on by Isaac Medlin; sold toThee Fariss; and inherited by Medlin Holmes Fariss Sr. He retired from farming in 1948; moved to Elk City; and became veryactive in real estate. Died in Elk View Hospital, Hobart, Oklahoma. Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, just east of Leedey, Oklahoma. Isaac Medlin filed on land in Oklahoma, which he apparently then soldto Thee Fariss. It was inherited by Medlin Holmes Fariss Sr., whoowned and farmed this land until he retired in 1948, moved to Elk City, and there had an active real estate business. Senior passed it down to Medlin Holmes Fariss Jr. The land is ownedin 1992 by Medlin Holmes Fariss Jr. and is presently being farmed byJunior's son Ted and Robetha Fariss of Leedey. They have lived on itand farmed it since 1969.
