a. Note:   Judy Strickland writes 02-02-1998 email: "I found some notes acousin sent me. She said Douglas Hayden Stockton II had four brothers:Richard, Thomas, Joseph, and Smith.
Douglas Hayden I and Elizabeth and Smith lived with Douglas HaydenII after the first four boys were grown. Apparently Smith was a lotyounger than the others.
Smith was a lawyer and went crazy. The doctors told him to go workon the plantation. He did and got well. Then he said that he wascalled to preach and that was why he lost his mind. He startedpreaching, came to Texas and died in Texas (I don't know when).
Douglas Hayden ( I or II ??) was a cousin of Richard, the signer ofthe Declaration of Independence. Douglas Hayden II was a merchant andowned plantations in Tennessee and in Mississippi.
I don't know where she got this information - maybe from a book, so Idon't know if any of it is correct or not."
