Notes
a. Note:   Emigrated from Ireland in 1819 - Believed to have come to Canada as a young lad of 11 years, with his sister, Sarah, her husband Gregory Bobier, and Gregory's brother John. It is thought that they followed the same route as Gregory's sister Mariah: Ireland to New York City, up the Mohawk on foot into the Eastern Townships just south of Montreal. Here Gregory & John worked as surveyors for a short period of time. They continued on to Tryconnell, Elgin County, Ontario. In the spring of 1825 the Bobiers settled in Euphemia Township (known as Zone Township at that time) as part of the Talbot settlers. Joseph followed in 1829. He resided near Florence (Zone Mills) in 1829. Applied to homestead Lot 23, Concession 1, Zone Co. After completing settlement duties, Joseph petitioned for a Crown Grant June 25, 1834. This grant was recommended by Thomas Talbot J.P. and approved by King William IV.
