a. Note:   Moved to Canada in 1834 rather than take the oath of Allegiance to the USA. First cleared enough land to build a log house and stable. The brick house wsa built in 1855. It had a veranda all of the way around. The log house was still used as a sheep pen in 1979.
  Learned linen weaving in Ireland after his grandfather's death. John & Elizabeth taught their children how to weave.
