  In 1876 he married Mary Ann McLennan who had come to Canada with her parents from teh district of Harris, Inverness, Scotland. They had six children. The family attended church in Oakdale and the children attended Bell's School S.S. #13. George often led the singing in the church and MArgaret Janet was the organist. George and Mary Ann farmed in Dawn Township until they retired to Florence to a small cottage on teh main street of the village.
