Note: 146-g6Le7 George6 Fox Leggett born July 14, 1829 at West Farms (Manhattan, NY City) died September 31, 1887, buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY married December 13, 1852 to Charlotte L. Macy at Poughkeepsie, NY born September 6, 1833 died June 24, 1927, buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY parents Charles A. Macy and Sarah L. Corlies of Poughkeepsie, New York Children (Leggett) 1: 1 girl 157-g7Le7 Sarah7 Fox The certificate was read by William F. Allen at the house of the father of the bride in the manner of "Friends". There are several conflicting dates for birth and death. His tombstone in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y., claims he was born 12 Jan 1823, died 31 Aug 1887, although this may be a misreading, as the marble stone is eroded. The obituary below confirms the death date of 31 August 1887. It also says he died in the 59th year of his age, placing his birth date in 1828-1829. His brother Thomas B. Leggett's letter of 1889 says George was born 14 January 1829. In the 1900 Census listing for her son-in-law, Charlotte claims to have had 3 children, only one of whom is alive at present. In Early Settlers, Theodore A. Leggett only shows one as well, so the other two must have died in infancy. Her is the obituary of one of them, Charles M. Leggett. His funeral took place from the townhouse of his grandfather, William H. Leggett: The New-York Times, Saturday, February 28, 1863. p. 5, bottom of col. 1, top of col. 2: LEGGETT.--In this City, on Thursday, Feb. 26, CHARLES M., son of George F. and Charlotte F.
