That Lester was first married to a woman named Alice is known by the 1910 Supreme Court of New York County document outlining the heirs of Thomas Leggett (1755-1843). They were living at 508 Seventh Avenue, Asbury Park, N. J. This Alice must have died between 1910 and 1915. A divorce is also possible.

The 1910 Census has them at 707 Sixth Avenue, so there must have been a move not reflected in the court documents. There is one Frank R. Searles listed as a stepson, evidently Alice's son from a previous marriage. Lester's occupation is listed as Clergyman Presbyterian.
