was born in Peekskill, Dutchess County, New York 7 November 1840. William died February 1921 in Birmingham, Oakland County, Michigan, 48009, at age 80.(86) His body was interred at Sashabaw Cemetery in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan.
He married Anna Beardslee 7 November 1860 in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan. Anna was born 20 May 1840 in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan. Anna(87) was the daughter of John Wheeler Beardslee and Elizabeth Ann Carpenter. Anna died 25 March 1910 in Wayne County, Michigan, at age 69. Her body was interred at Sashabaw Cemetery in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan.
In the 1900 US Federal Census, William was listed as a head of household in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. William H. Leggett [Nov. 1841 - 60 New York], Annie B. [May 1843 - 57 Michigan], Fredrick C. [Dec. 1880 - 19 Michigan], Lucile B. [Feb. 1885 - 15 Michigan]. They were married 38 years with 6 children 4 living. William was in real estate & Fred was a clerk at a wholesale hardware store. They resided at 212 Grand Blvd. East.

93 i. Valentine "Tinie"20 Leggett(88) was born in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan 13 October 1861. Valentine died before 26 July 1870 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at age 8. His body was interred at Sashabaw in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan. He is buried at the Sashabaw Cemetery in the same lot as his grandparents. He has a small square stone "Tinie L." marking his grave.
94 ii. John Wheeler Leggett was born in Waterford Township, Oakland County, Michigan 23 May 1864. John died 1939 in ---, at age 75. He married Grace E. Frue 1892 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Grace was born --- in ---. Grace died --- in ---, at age unknown. John & Grace had two daughters: Wilhelmina [1896] & Annabel [28 August 1905]. Annabel was known as "little brown eyes". She married Oreste Papalini & lived in California. She had two children.
95 iii. Augustus "Gus" Wright Leggett(89) was born in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan 25 November 1867. Augustus died 30 November 1944 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, at age 77. He married Emma Kay "Jimmy" Carter 7 June 1903 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. Emma was born 7 September 1880 in ---. Emma died 26 July 1964 in Utah, at age 83. Augustus & Emma had two daughters - Betty [ca. 1905] & Dorothy.
96 iv. William "Willie" Haight Leggett(90) was born in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan December 1869. William died 22 March 1878 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at age 8. Wayne County Death Records [State of Michigan]: Leger page 69, record no. 241 - He died of dropsy at age 9 years - recorded 13 May 1879. His body was interred at Sashabaw Cemetery in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan. He is buried at the Sashabaw Cemetery beside his brother & near his grandparents. The grave marker is a small square stone marked "Willie L." with no other information.
97 v. Fredrick Carlile Leggett was born in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan 7 December 1880. Fredrick died 23 June 1954 in ---, at age 73. Obituary: FREDERIC C. LEGGETT- A retired Highland Park hardware merchant, Mr. Leggett, 73, of McIver, Mi., drowned Wednsday in Echo Bay at Port Austin while fishing. A native of Detroit, he was a member of the firm Leggett, Doll, and Foster Co., of Highland Park, prior to his retirement in 1933. Mr. Leggett was a past master of Palestine Lodge, F &AM. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Rice Howell. Services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday at the Manely Bailey Funeral Home, 183 Oakland, Birmingham. Burial will be in Sashabaw Cemetary, Drayton Plains. Detroit Free Press - 25 June 1954. Fred was never married. He owned a hunting lodge.

Lucile Viola Leggett(91) was born in Highland Park, Wayne County, Michigan 23 February 1885.(92) Lucile died 3 January 1976 in Los Angeles, Los Angelos County, California, at age 90.(93) Her body was interred at Sashabaw Cemetery in Independence Twp, Oakland County, Michigan.(94) United Presbeterian Church - Maybee Rd. She married Rice Alva Howell 4 October 1916 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.
Rice was born 30 December 1884 in White Oaks Township, Ingham County, Michigan. Rice(95) was the son of Floyd Parshall Howell and Lucy Ann Mapes. Rice died 10 December 1949 in Birmingham, Oakland County, Michigan, 48009, at age 64.(96) His body was interred at Sashabaw Cemetery in Sashabaw, Independence Twp., Oakland County, Michigan. He resided in Highland Park, Wayne County, Michigan before 3 October 1919.

William died on the 26th of January 1920 in Detroit, and not Feb 1921...
The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Lucile Howell, at 2:00 pm on 29 January 1920 and burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
On 14 October following, his body was exhumed & removed to the Sashabaw Plains Cemetery in Independence Township, Oakland County, Michigan to be buried alongside his wife Anna (Beardslee) Leggett.
On October 2007, a headstone was placed on his grave.
"Detroit Free Press" - 29 January 1920, p.16 "LEGGETT Jan 26 at residence 106 Colorado ave. William H Leggett age 79 years. Funeral services from house Thursday afternoon at 2:00."
