Note: ied -------, before 1781; married Feb. 2, 1761, Hannah Wiggins, born -------; died ------. No record of any children has been found. [This last sentence is in error, and is corrected on p. 98, in Corrections and Additions, as Isaac had at least one son, Charles4, which T.A. Leggett acknowledges, but he is mistaken as to Charles's ancestry, believing him to be a son of Thomas2 Leggett and not a descendant of William2 Leggett, (grandson) as stated in the Gustin genealogy (also wrong of course!) The compiler (A. Hatfield, Jr. presumably) mentions (pp. 64-66) that the correct connection has since been proven to his satisfaction, and he corrects the record, but it is apparently too late to reset type and rejigger his numbering system, leaving us today with some confusion, if we do not read all the references, and the Corrections and Additions, pp. 98-101, of which there are many. The Generals of Saratoga, J Burgoyne and H. Gates, by Max M. Mintz, pub. 1990, pg 185 "A mile and a half to the north of the encampment, across Mill Creek, was Freeman's farm, an oblong, east-west clearing of some twelve acres owned by a Loyalist Quaker, Isaac3 Leggett. Arnold, (Gen. B.) tried to pry from one of Leggett's daughters an admission that her father had sold provisions to the British. "If thee know better than I, why did thee ask me?", Mary tartly replied. Gates, (Gen. H.), interceded, saying, "Don't be too hard on the young woman." This account has to be questioned , if it refers to a daughter of Isaac3 , unless there is an error in his date of marriage.
