I do recall being told (by the McCurdys) that John was incompetent, and his marriage was anulled by the family.

17 ii. John "Jack" Ives Duncan was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois 17 August 1928. He married Stephanie Toong 19 September 1991 in Cebu City, Philippines. The marriage was annulled the next summer.
Stephanie was born --- in ---. John was stricken with polio just after his high school graduation in 1946.
