  Hello,
I noted your rootsweb.Ancestry.com entry for Samuel Embree II posted on 12 July 2012 (David Leggett's Leggetts of ...).
You note his wife to be Sarah Rowland, daughter of Jonathan Rowland and Martha Seaman. I have found a reference that notes Samuel married Abigail Rowland, daughter of Jonathan Rowland and Abigail Barlow.
Do you have a reference/source that cites the parentage of Sarah Rowland, Samuel's wife? His will in 1739 Westchester County, NY does not name his wife although he leaves her a legacy and names his children.
I would like very much to establish whether Samuel Embree (born before 31 Aug 1698, died before 23 June 1740) was married to Sarah (daughter of Martha Seaman) or Abigail (daughter of Abigail Barlow).
The will makes this somewhat confusing as Samuel and his wife have daughters, Abigail and Sarah!!
Any assistance to identify a citing source will be greatly appreciated and I will look forward to hearing from you.

  Betty, hello from Arlington, VA.
So maybe we are cousins through the Rowlands?
Though I try to post updates regularly, it has been some time since I looked at this part of the family. I see that my source for this is my cousins, Larry and Kathy (Pollock) McCurdy in Michigan, and I think I got this info way back in about 1999-2000, when I first started building the online tree. I don`t think I`ve touched it since. The master file with the sourcing is posted under Samuel`s daughter, Mary, as she married Thomas Leggett. I am not sure where they gathered the info. I think their email is now kalamc@ameritech.net instead of the old email at the foot of the material, but it has been some time since we had email contact, but just checking online now at http://mccurdyfamilylineage.com/ancestry/s1.htm it seems to be current.

Sorry for the blank message - We have Samuel Embree married to Abigail Rowland - years ago we found it quite questionable that Samuel was married to Sarah - you can find what we have on our website: www.mccurdyfamilylineage.com -go to projects and to "Ancestral Lines of Our Family". If you have questions or see problems/mistakes, please let us know.

  David,
thanks for your lengthy response; I greatly appreciate the information on Mary Embree Leggett's family.
I have had a response from Kathy McCurdy and she notes that Samuel's wife is Abigail. So I will go with that for the present and keep looking for more documentation on Samuel Embree and Abigail's family.
We have been here in Williamsburg since 2006, retiring here from Portage/Kalamazoo MI (1991-2006); it is too bad that that Clayton and I did not meet/know Kathy and Larry McCurdy when we were in the area. We belonged to the local genealogy society, but one does not always find "relatives" even though there were a number of Rowlands in the Kalamazoo area that were originally from NY as well.
Again, thank you for responding and I appreciate your help contacting Kathy. Take care; best of luck in your research activities.
 Betty

  Hello David,
Re yours below, the attached may be of interest.
They are copies of the original and a transcript (open to correction) of a Court matter wherein Samuel Glean was indicted for Assault and Battery on Theophilus Hunt, both believed to have been grandsons of Samuel Embree.
As you may know, his daughters Sarah (Glean) and Abigail (Hunt) were named in Samuel Embree's 1739 Will which also named William Leggett as one of two Executors.
What may be of minor interest to you is that Ebenezer Leggett was one of the Jurors appointed to hear the case. Do you have any additional information on what, to me, appears to have been some sort of family feud?
Can you tell me what was Ebenezer's relationship to William? And, much later, to Joseph Leggett the (adopted) father of Martha Bowman. (ref yours of today)

I have printed these two pages out, thanks. But maybe someone could
help me out here with what I am supposed to be taking note of? I see
the Gabriel T. and Joseph Leggett families of course, but is there a
Leggett-Glean marriage or something that I'm failing to see? I have a
couple Gleans in the tree but only associated with an Embree marriage.
