My line is the only one of his descendants not to have "daughtered out." There is another line of his descendants who bear the name through adoption. Eliza (Seaman) Leggett would be an "aunt-in-law" of mine. ________________________________________ From: Jeff Lloyd ©2005 [mailto:MajorWilliamsTree@msn.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2006 12:01 PM To: Leggett, David Subject: Re: WorldConnect: Post-em posted - Constance Fitch Smith Hi Dave! I'm not sure about the Lettie-Raymond twin issue, but Feb 6th I'm visiting with a Fitch cousin and so will ask her then (Her maiden name was also Constance Fitch - strange coincidences, huh?) How do you connect up in the Leggett tree? Jeff ----- Original Message ----- From: Leggett, David To: Jeff Lloyd C2005 Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2006 11:50 AM Subject: RE: WorldConnect: Post-em posted - Constance Fitch Smith Jeff, the credit is yours. Yes I see that we talked before about Archie Utter; glad to see in checking that entry that I gave you credit for him too! I see in the photo of the stone a Lettie Smith, 1914-1916. Obviously a child of Constance's. Wonder if she was a twin to Raymond D., who I have being born about 1914. I never did find out what happened to Raymond D. Talbot Jr. I was able to find, the more unusual first name helped. So I think we must be "cousins-in-law"? I believe we've conversed before... (about Archie Crouston Utter?) Constance Fitch was a sister of a (now deceased) grand-uncle of mine, Ferris H. Fitch (who was Lt. Gov of MI at one time; he was also a lawyer)(may have been a judge at one time as well) Here is a photo of the "Fitch - Humphrey" marker at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, MI, which will show you that Talbot "J" is actually Talbot "T" (Truxton) Smith (Jr.)... (as well as other verifications and connections)( the Talbot Smith on the marker is obviously the father) Fitch and Humphrey monument at Oak Hill cemetery, Pontiac, MI (west face)(day) ©2004-2006 Jeff Lloyd As an aside on the Leggett branch with I believe is your primary concern, I went to Eliza (Seaman) Leggett elementary school here in Waterford, MI when a child - Eliza was the mother of a 2nd G-Granduncle of mine, Mortimer Allen Leggett. The Leggett markers are also either at Oak Hill for some of them, or out in Waterford at Sashabaw Cemetery (Drayton Plains/Clarkston area) for the others. I have ALL these connections but have not published them online or elsewhere as yet (a big thank you to you for your online info which helped my info fill out) but prefer to 'leak' out little bits now and then (to help point folks in the right direction) and so as not to jeopardize any effort I may have in the future towards a possible locally-oriented book about pioneers and settlers in the area. Hope you like this, and Enjoy! Jeff PS: If you use this information on you website, would you be kind enough to give me/my research credit? (as it takes a long time to discover and verify these connections). Thanks for your consideration! ----- Original Message ----- From: Leggett, David To: MajorWilliamsTree@msn.com Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2006 9:21 AM Subject: RE: WorldConnect: Post-em posted Jeff, thanks for this. It got me going again, and I found the family in the 1930 Census in Tucson, Arizona, (Constance shows middle initial F.) got the name of the second son corrected (Talbot J. Jr.) and found both father and son in the SSDI. (Both showed issue of SSN in Arizona, but father's last residence in CA, Jr. in Arizona. Are you related to this family?
